Choosing a neck chain for a man can be a bit of a difficult task. There are often so manynecklaces to choose from, that it can be hard to know which one will suit the man you are buying for. Here, we’ve listed our top tips to help you, when buying a neck chain for a man.

Firstly, the most important thing to consider is his personal style. Look at his other jewellery, take note of the style of rings he has and other jewellery that he might wear. It is also a good idea to look at the style of his watch.
Types of chains suitable for men
There are lots of different styles of neck chains that are suitable for men. Some of these chain styles include:
- Rope: A rope chain consists of two thin chains twisted together to create a thick rope appearance.
- Omega:An omega chain is made up of flat rectangular pieces. A great classic chain.
- Curb: A curb chain lies flat against the skin and is made up of oval-shaped links which are twisted and diamond cut to make flat.
- Cable chains: A cable chain consists of oval links that are are uniform in their size and link together. Another great classic chain.
To decide on what chain to buy, a good idea is to search on the Internet and look at different styles of men’s necklaces. This will make it easier to shop for the chain as you will know what you are looking for.
Silver, gold or titanium
When choosing the metal the chain is made from you need to consider what other jewellery he has and what would best suit him. If the gift is not a surprise, you can always ask them what they prefer or even take them with you shopping and have them try on a silver, gold and titanium chain to compare how each look.
Is it for everyday wear? Consider how durable it should be
If you are buying a chain for them to wear on special occasions or at least not every day to work, you can buy something made from a more delicate metal. If however you are wanting to buy a necklace which can be worn on a daily basis, it might be a good idea to purchase something a little more durable.
This also depends on the type of work they do. If you are buying for someone who works in an office job or who does a job which does not require manual labour a fine gold or silver chain would be suitable. However if you are buying a chain for a man who works in a job that requires manual labour, you might want to purchase a chain that is less likely to get scratched and that is more durable.
Many men now wear wedding rings made from tungsten or titanium to avoid scratching and damage. The same idea should apply when purchasing a necklace.
